The Farmfest arena is a positively bustling cornucopia of music, arts and entertainment with 7 music stages, workshop areas, entertainment big top and kids tent, each featuring fantastically imagined and lovingly crafted sets creating the perfect backdrop for our performers and crowd to fully immerse themselves.
Home to the big name headliners and so much more. A showcase for a vivid and varied selection of music from across the globe and spanning genres, from up and coming names gaining reputations to established acts outside of the mainstream. With a relaxed atmosphere, space to dance or to let the kids roam, and with a tingle of excitement in the air it’s given us some magical moments.
From folk to hip-hop to big brass bands, world music to mystifying electronica, it’s all happening under the big blue sky. With a unique atmosphere and an intimacy that belies its size, the Big Blue is a jovial place where elegant singer-songwriters nestle alongside devastating beatboxers, traditional 12-piece Columbian bands are joined by samba drummers from Bath, and where the distinction between performer and audience can often get a little blurred!
Championing local talent is an important part of Farmfest and for many years The Sett has been integral to this, providing a platform for the best acts that the region has to offer, perfectly re-imagining those great nights down the pub where you discover your new favourite band. With a new look in store and some incredible headliners taking to the stage, The Sett is ready for its best year yet.
DJs from across the world of dance music spin from our vintage combine harvester in a patchwork den of duvets. It’s not all four to the floor in here, an eclectic array of fine music purveyors blend tunes from decades past to future white-labels, disco, funk, soul, beats and breaks, and stuff that doesn’t even have a name. It also plays host to a highlight of the weekend, the Farmfest closing party, with residents Joe & Si and the Farmfest family.
Our guest-curated DJ tent has Bristol’s Shapes crew in residence and has been known to swallow many a reveller for the duration of the festival with a hypnotic and irresistible blend of house and techno. If you’ve lost your mate, this may well be where they are!
The arts & entertainments offering at Farmfest has grown from strength to strength over the past few years culminating with the emergence of a brand new venue, The Palladium. Located at the top of the hill, nestled alongside the village of traders and overlooking The Green, it’s the perfect place to take a load off and witness some extraordinary performances from a veritable smorgasbord of comedians and game makers. You might even want to get involved yourself.
With workshops aplenty, come get busy and creative or just chilled out and rested. Create a personalised brooch, shake loose with some zumba, massage your partner into a state of bliss, or find your own peace with some yoga. You’ll find it next door to The Palladium.
The famous kids’ tent is forever bursting at the seams with arts and crafts activities for toddlers to tweenies and this year will be no exception. With make-and-take sessions, musical puppet sing-alongs, classic story based interactive workshops, magic shows, discos and so much more all roaring with this year’s animal theme, there’s plenty for little ones to explore. The Kids’ Kingdom is just a hop, skip and jump from the family campsite, overlooking The Green.
Where plenty of fun and games and silliness take place! Try your hand at juggling, crazy golf, plate spinning or poi. Let loose your best aerobic and dance moves, and listen out for the sounds of the samba’s raw rhythms and grooves. Also head here with your creations for The Farmfest Hat Competition, or just any time you feel like burning off some steam!
The Dub Tent is the High Grade Rockers dub soundsystem, playing the best of roots, reggae and dub. Occupying a corner of Farmfest for more years than we can remember High Grade Rockers are both a very firm, yet slightly wobbly favourite!
Doing exactly what The Sett does for local talent but with less plugs and a slightly more genteel bent, this year the spoken word artists will also perform in the Acoustic Sett’s intimate space for the first time. A nice, comfy spot to chill amongst the village at the top of the hill.
