Come and learn the basics of hat making and design and make a hat, headdress or fascinator. Materials are provided but you are welcome to bring anything you like to use, the bolder the better, let your imagination run wild!
Open to ages 8 years and upwards, the workshops will be run on both Friday and Saturday and last for 2 hours. And of course you will be invited to enter your creation in to the famous Farmfest Hat Competition on the Saturday as well as wear it to the Farmfest Carnival hosted by Jamma de Samba!
Yes, it’s back. Of course! So get your glue guns and sticky tape at the ready, this is one fierce competition and the standard over the years has been nothing short of astounding. Judging will take place at The Green on Saturday afternoon, and if prior preparation aint your thing never fear you can always make your hat onsite at one of Abi Kennedy’s hat making workshops which will be taking place during the festival.

Malcolm is one of the best children’s entertainers on the circuit, providing quality entertainment for over 22 years. His incredibly popular show includes plenty of audience participation, balloon modelling, magic and juggling, with lots of colour and fun to keep children of all ages enthralled.
A botanical print workshop using the Hapa Zome technique. Hapa Zome translates from Japanese to mean ‘leaf dye.’ The method involves bashing plants and flowers using a hammer to release natural pigments that transfer as a print onto fabric. The technique makes beautiful, instant fabric prints that can be used to make various garments, handmade fabric cards, cushion and upholstery.
Music and movement sessions for parents and pre-schoolers and older children too. With lots of instruments to make music including shakers, colourful xylophones and drums all lead by the piano and a variety of colourful equipment such as hula hops, soft toys and balls for fun with movement. Mums and dads work together with their child in the younger age group while the older children (above 2 and a half yrs) can enjoy themselves independently!
Bristol-based Graft will be back on the farm this year following the success of last year’s graffiti workshop. They will be showing you how to use spraycans and stencils to create a unique memento of your Farmfest experience! The workshop is open to adults and children over 8 years of age; children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
Sanatan Yoga is pleased to be able to offer children’s yoga classes using story telling and imagery from the natural world to teach yoga to children, enabling them to create and participate in their own yoga story.
Our resident artist invites one and all to come and get crafty in our delightful make-and-take sessions. This year it’s carnival themed so the little ones can take their amazing creations with them to the Farmfest Carnival on Saturday evening!
Come and learn kung fu! This children’s class will involve some fun games and awesome kung fu moves for all those budding kung fu masters out there. All kids welcome. Not nearly as dangerous as it sounds!
Flotsam the Fool brings a taste of The Circus to the festival, come along and join the fun! Have a go at juggling, diabolo, poi, plate spinning and many more. We also have a selection of traditional playground toys to play with and a slackline for the more adventurous!
Come and visit our Paradise Aviary for a theatrical workshop looking at animals and how they move. Beginning with animals such as cats, dogs and chickens the children will then be able to choose their own favourite animal to re-enact and think about how we see animals in humans too! What kind of person would a cat be?!
Farmfest’s resident children’s DJ rounds off the weekend with top tunes, bold moves, games and prizes to be won! A fitting culmination to the weekend for the rocking kids tent and one that is a highlight for many, parents and offspring alike. (Don’t worry they don’t play any Offspring.) Air guitar and and dad dancing optional!
